As an expert in biopolymerization, SILABhas developed SILAFILM®, a patented technology for a dry and very thin film that combines two principal components:
- a matrix, based on a polysaccharidic network specifically developed to provide the film with suppleness and resistance. Combining this matrix with rigorously selected emollients and mineral fillers optimizes elasticity of the film, at the same time as providing remarkable sensorial qualities, in particular softness;
- one or several active ingredients at elevated concentration, incorporated in the matrix, depending on the targeted cosmetic benefit.
A release of active ingredients in contact with the skin
SILAFILM® is a genuine mobile support that releases active ingredients from the matrix when it contacts water. When the film is applied to previously wetted skin, it rehydrates and creates intimate contact with the skin’s surface as a result of its optimal adherence. The chains of the polysaccharide matrix become mobile, enabling the rapid and intense release of active molecules into the skin.
An augmented bioavailability
Studies have shown that the film resulting from the SILAFILM® technology is an active ingredients delivery system, providing significant bioavailability as of 10 minutes of application. SILAFILM® enables the rapid and intense release of a variety of families of active molecules. Compared to other types of masks (tissue or hydrogel) with equivalent concentrations in active ingredients, a SILAFILM® releases larger quantities of peptides.
